FOOD | ARTS | COMMUNITY | STYLE+LEISURE Breakfast Dumplings, Frosted Flake French Toast and Chicken Fried Steak with eggs. The dumplings were good to try; they are fried up and served with a spicy syrup dip that I mistakenly thought was soy sauce. The chicken fried steak half-portion is perfect for a not-so-heavy brunch. The bacon jam and gravy all taste great with the steak and eggs. The French toast has a nice sweet flavor and the two sauces on the side were delicious. I ordered the Texas G.O.O.F. Hound cocktail, which is a sweet and lighter take on the traditional greyhound. I’m so happy that we have this restaurant in our area, and we will definitely be back. The restaurant has a small parking lot and valet parking. I recommend you take an Uber or taxi if you plan to drink. –Jeanine G., Yelp NAMSON NOODLES $ Vietnamese, Noodles | 2111 Fannin St. | 832.986.5373 Today I have experienced Namson Noodle, the grand opening, with amazing noodle soup, the Dac Biet pho. The soup taste especially good and the waitress is very nice. They gave me free spring roll and the coupon for next time. The best pho I have ever tried in Downtown. –Ngan N., Yelp PERSONA WOOD FIRED PIZZERIA $$ Pizza | 9635 N. Sam Houston Pkwy. E. | 832.644.5577 www.personapizzeria.com Best pizza I’ve ever tasted! Def best pizza in Houston! Super-fast delivery to your table! This place is worth driving to if you don’t live close by! No other place in Houston where you can go have dinner on a Friday night and have your food in less than 5 minutes. The staff was super-friendly as well! I can’t wait to go back to this place and I’m telling all of my friends about it. I hope this pizzeria never goes out of business!! –Faith R., Yelp TEXAS SHRIMP SHACK $$ Seafood, Latin American 1617 Richmond Ave. 713.528.4920 | www.texasshrimpshack.com The shrimp selection is awesome – fresh wild shrimp from the Gulf, never overcooked – plus there are other selections besides shrimp and very affordable. Bar serves great margaritas, micheladas and good selection of local beers. Where you can get one pound of shrimp at $9.95 for happy hour? Nice place and very unique in the area. – Rene H., Yelp RACHELS CAFE $ American (Traditional), Burgers, Sandwiches | 421 San Jacinto St. | 713.229.7067 | www.rachelscafehouston.com Woke up craving burgers and found this place on Yelp. Figured with a 5-star rating, how could we go wrong. While the place is nothing to look at, the burgers were fantastic. I got a bacon cheeseburger with the works that was perfectly seasoned, cooked and mouthwateringly delicious. One of my party got the onion rings that were nice and crispy, just the way I like them. The owner-chef was super-nice and super-informative, answering all our questions about downtown Houston. Definitely recommend and definitely would come here again next I’m in Houston. –Evelyn D., Yelp SAWA RESTAURANT AND GRILL $$ Middle Eastern, Mediterranean | 16608 El Camino Real 281.990.0817 Really affordable and delicious food! I got the chicken schawarma wrap and it was SO huge compared to the picture in the menu. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive throughout the experience and even brought us an extra appetizer on the house after overhearing us trying to decide between two options. I highly recommend it! –Chris M., Yelp SLICES & ICES $ Pizza | 300 W. Bay Area Blvd. | 832.932.5747 www.slicesandices.pizza The BEST pizza I have had in YEARS!!!
