LOCAL Houston | The City Guide November 2017 | Page 4

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR WELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL FASHION AND STYLE ISSUE. In the following pages, you’ll meet local people from all walks of life who are part of Houston’s dynamic fashion community – from vintage dealers to an embroidery artist to a fashion professor to a pro athlete and beyond. They’re all doing things their own way, and with great results. And don’t worry, they’re not the same old crowd you’ve read about dozens of times before in other publications – that’s not how we roll at LOCAL Houston magazine. Speaking of rolling, this month’s cover and Fat Finds fashion spread were shot in an antique rail car at the Galveston Railroad Museum (www.galvestonrrmuseum.com). With interactive displays and multiple cars to explore, the museum is truly worth the trip. It was the perfect backdrop for Marzi and Cody to create their usual magic and more. The sequin trend really pops – just in time for the holiday season! Also preparing you for the holidays: clean eating at HS Green, celebratory cocktails at Bar 12 at Saks Fifth Avenue, tree-lighting ceremonies in the Woodlands and at The Galleria, all in this issue, along with all the art, film, style, entertainment and happenings you need to know about in November. Thank you to all our writers and photographers, plus our partners Glasstire and the Houston History Alliance, for adding their own style – and substance – to this issue. As this is also Thanksgiving month, I am truly grateful for you all – especially our readers. Tim Moloney editor-in-chief BEHIND THE COVER The Galveston Railroad Museum (www.galvestonrrmuseum.com) was the setting for this month's Fat Finds fashion feature and issue cover. Established in 1983, the museum features both restored and unre- stored rail cars from hisotry, in addition to model trains, memorabilia and exhibits that include "Dining Cars of the American Railways." The museum was the perfect setting for showcasing fashion's sequin trend. All aboard! 4 L O C A L | 11 . 2017
