I love the idea of brunch but loathe the idea of leaving my house on a Sunday. Benjy’s is now serving brunch all week, and I am very, very happy. It also helps that it’s like they got into my brain and created the menu just for me (they didn’t) but I have NEVER liked so many things on one menu. Plus, a perk of my job got me a pretty extensive tasting and “wow.” The vegetarian frito pie, the Bluebonnet (a delicious non-alcoholic lemon & lime sparkling water with house blueberry and vanilla scrub), Benjy’s French toast (brioche, vanilla whipped cream, cranberry jam, cane syrup), the smoked salmon toast (scrambled egg whites, house-smoked salmon, tzatziki salad, crushed avocado and fennel sprouts) – I could go on. It’s amazing. Thank you, Benjy. www.benjys.com We should be in the dog days of summer, meaning caliente. I discovered Acure’s Peppermint argan oil castile soap at Whole Foods Voss (which I also love) and obviously liked the scent (’cause I bought it). But really, the “how to use” label makes me really, really happy: “I’m all castile … without the nonsense. Unlike all those other lazy soaps, use me daily in the shower as a body wash, as a bubble bath, or to brush your teeth, wash your hair, do your laundry, clean you tub, clean your dog, clean your floors, do your dishes, do your homework, eat your vegetables, go jogging for you, write thank you notes for you, clean the gutters, as a therapist (I’m a great listener), someone to go to the movies with, or a road trip companion.” www.acureorganics.com The hippie in me is happy and so is the wiseacre.
