ON OUR RADAR Open since 1962, Antone’s Famous Po’Boys, the fastcasual sandwich restaurant known for its signature po’boys and Chow Chow relish, is expanding for the first time in over ten years. The eatery has two new locations in the works: A graband-go kiosk station in the food court at 5 Greenway Plaza slated to open this month and a 2,500sf full restaurant at The Shops at Ten Oaks in West Houston scheduled to open in early 2017. Last month the Menninger Clinic launched BridgeUp at Menninger to establish an innovative model that integrates evidence-based social and emotional learning programs into after-school initiatives to help vulnerable students succeed in school and beyond. Launching with the 2016–17 school year, BridgeUp at Menninger will reach 1,400 students at 28 locations throughout various Greater Houston communities, including Kashmere Gardens, Near Northside, Pasadena, Sharpstown, Spring Branch and Third Ward. BridgeUp gets our next generation talking openly and honestly about mental health, while addressing the social, emotional and mental well-being of vulnerable students whose lives have been challenged by economic, health and family hardships.
