FOOD | ARTS | COMMUNITY | STYLE+LEISURE CLUB HOUSE PARTY | BAR | LOUNGE YOU’RE INVITED TO WICKLOW HEIGHTS How come no one told us there was a new house party in town? Come on, you guys. We tell you just about every secret we know. Yet no one told us about that bungalow on 19th Street, sitting right there next to Cedar Creek, ready for a good old circa senior college year “under the sea"-themed house party complete with SRO beautiful people, shower curtain for picture back- ground (how’d you like this prop, Broadacres?), mp3 playlist rolling all night, shot block, cheap decor and endless drinks. Hello? Well, New Year, new scene, we found it out ourselves ... Wicklow Heights is open for business. Maybe it’s our fault. Our specifications for a killer house party have changed over the years and surely you wouldn’t know that. We’re not living in College Station anymore either; it’s Heights life now. Meaning, any old run-down house in a pasture (joking) just won't do these days. We need a crisp white bungalow with an HGTV-worthy reno including such highlights as a bright colored front door (blue at Wicklow), pristine hardwoods, fancy lighting, designer looking wallpaper, proper seating areas, full bar with service inside and out, killer wrap-around porch joining up with a backyard strewn with cafe lights PRIME for partying and making the neighborhood jealous as heck, cabana styled and picnic table seating, artificial turf mixed with planters donning the finest in real plants, mounted speakers blasting hot beats, a huge outdoor TV for the big games, service with a smile and good-looking people of all ages, endlessly streaming in and out. Basically, we just run-on- sentenced a Wicklow Heights rundown and we liked it. And, we (and you) need some Wicklow Heights. We’ll also need a babysitter if you have any good candidates, you know, since Wicklow Heights isn’t exactly our house. Ok, so these drinks you’ll have to buy, but since they’re good, you’ll be happy to pass on the old house party Natty Light keg, jungle juice five-gallon Gatorade jug and the Cook’s sparkling for some JuiceLand-teamed cocktails, along with cocktails for each month and day of the week (and of course the classics, too), 24 draft beers with rotating Houston brewery specialty beers, plenty of bottles and cans, wine and some freaking stellar spirits including Pappy 10 and 12 (at least at press time, only Old Rip knows if they’re still around). We’re especially prone to this bourbon, so while we can’t say we tried much else, everyone else at Wicklow was happily drinking at least one of the many other options, though no shot block, but those were bad for business anyway. And while there is no kitchen, keep an eye on the Insta for weekly food trucks, and for weekly events. Wicklow always seems to have something going on, often partying well into the night. Like any good house party would.
