From January 28 – February 5 , Downtown ’ s crown jewel of a park – Discovery Green – is the place to be for Super Bowl LIVE , a free , action-packed fan festival with delicious food , big-name music , exciting entertainment , fun attractions and more to allow the whole city to experience the excitement of Super Bowl LI without a ticket to the game . It ’ s expected that Houston ’ s festival will be twice as large as San Francisco ’ s Super Bowl City downtown last year , which drew over 1.1 million people ahead of Super Bowl 50 .
The event ' s " WOW " Factor is Future Flight , an out-of-this-world virtual reality experience that takes guests on an excursion through space to the Red Planet and back , concluding with a 90-foot drop back to Earth , landing on the 50-yard-line of NRG Stadium !
Also at Discovery Green : one of four of the city ’ s Countdown Clocks … ticking away the time to the big event . The 15-foot football-shaped clock makes a great selfie spot , for those who are into that . Three other clocks are located across town at NRG Stadium , Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport .
