Angel Otero : Everything and Nothing is Otero ’ s first survey exhibition and encompasses nearly a decade of his painting and sculpture , including his iconic skin and transfer paintings , early work created using silicon and collage , as well as sculpture . The artist ’ s work and intentions are pronounced and demystified , and what initially appears as disparate lines of production and conceptual engagement suddenly coalesce into a continuous extrapolation of imagery that is at once intimate and iconic .
Travel across Texas by model railroad in this scratch-built “ O ” scale model that took nine months to create . The multiple trains crisscrossing the state will visit important and unique places in the state ’ s geology and physiography . Destinations include oil country salt domes , prairies and wetlands of the Texas coast and state and national monuments such as Enchanted Rock , Pedernales Falls , The Balcones Escarpment and Big Bend National Park . Along the routes to these geologic wonders , the trains will also pass through Galveston , Houston , Dallas , Fort Worth , Austin and San Antonio with other surprises along the route .
Modern Twist : Contemporary Japanese Bamboo Art explores the innovative shape bamboo art has taken since the mid-twentieth century and features a stunning selection of works from 17 Japanese artists . With rare wall-hung installations and works never before seen in Houston , this exhibition both engages and educates audiences about this vibrant cultural art form . The exhibition is guest-curated by Dr . Andreas Marks , of Minneapolis Institute of Arts , Collection of the Clark Center , and organized by International Arts and Artists .
