The Menninger Clinic’s Annual Signature Luncheon, featur- ing actor Sean Astin as speaker, will take place on Thursday, May 3, at the Westin Galleria Hotel. Astin will talk about what it was like growing up with his mother Patty Duke, the famed actress whose bipolar disorder and depression often caused unexplained, erratic behavior. Kathy Neblett, a local mental health advocate and longtime Menninger supporter, is chairing the event. Proceeds from the luncheon will help advance mental health training, research and treatment at Menninger, which ranks among the top three psychiatric hospitals in the country according to U.S. News & World Report.
