SCENE EVENT: KYRA "VERMILLION" PRESENTATION WHERE: RONIN ART HOUSE Space Showroom Owner Jerry Mathis and KYRA Designer Kemi Alao In the midst of fashion weeks hosted around the world, Houston made its contribution to the fashion world. Designer Kemi Alao of KYRA premiered her newest collection, Vermillion, at the new Ronin Art House. In the form of a standing presentation, models were arranged in an art installation featur- ing platforms and netting. On the surrounding walls were a series of vibrant paintings by Jonathan Paul Jackson. The intense hues of KYRA’s collection were backed by Jackson’s bold abstract art. Both artists’ work harmonized together, creating an atmosphere where guests saw Alao’s inspiration for “Vermillion” – tropical fish. Backstage, a dynamic team of Houston’s most creative hair and makeup artists worked with models, including key makeup artist Aliesha Bree, Estefania of Alluring Complexions, Jasmine Vital and Raketta of Conceited Looks. Hair stylists included Nancy Zumaya of Cut, Color, Create and Krystal of Hair and Beauty Studio. Select items from the collection will be available for pre-order in the upcoming weeks. The Brian Robison “Reel ‘Em In” Foundation, founded by Jayme and Brian Robison in 2015, was formed to provide financial, emotional and physical support for those in need. Robison couples his affinity for bass fishing with giving back to the community by hosting an annual bass fishing tournament. Each year, Robison and his wife select a Texas-based nonprofit as the beneficiary of their tournament and all proceeds are donated to the selected organization in need. For the second year K9s4COPs, a Houston- based nonprofit that provides canines, resources and support to law enforcement agencies in the United States, will be the beneficiary of the fishing tournament at Lake Sam Rayburn on April 1–2. Texas football alumni, members of the Houston area Minnesota Vikings fan club, board members from K9s4COPs and avid anglers joined together to learn about the tournament, reminisce about Texas football and enjoy appetizers while sipping on cocktails for a good cause.
