ON OUR RADAR It’s fascinating how much we have advanced as a species with the use of technology – but Memorial Hermann is making the phrase “healthcare innovation” work for them, with their state-of-the-art roboticsassisted surgeries. Though robotics in healthcare is nothing new, it’s quickly becoming the latest advancement in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) where patients can receive the benefits of a traditional surgery without the large scar to show for it. Memorial Hermann uses the daVinci® Surgical System, which is the first surgical robotic system in the world to have been approved by the FDA. With over 3 million minimally invasive surgeries worldwide, 4,500 of these robotic procedures have been performed here at Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center. The campus has trained over 3,000 surgeons across six specialties placing Memorial Hermann – TMC as the second most experienced daVinci robotics hospital in the nation.
