Displayed on top of a Honey Board are a variety of options. HONEY BOARDS, this beauty isn’t just any old serving board. Each one is original and special, undergoing a several-day process including coats of food-grade mineral oil combined with a mineral oil and beeswax to bring out the natural wood grain. No dyes or artificial coloring are added and even the beeswax is locally sourced in New Orleans. Each Honey Board is fashioned by hand in NOLA from live-edge cypress trees salvaged from cypress knees and stumps left behind after commercial operations harvest the trees for lumber. This is from the Mardi Gras Collection, but they constantly add to their collections. Who is “they”? Sarah, a Houstonian who was raised back and forth between New Orleans and Houston, and her partner Kyle. www.honeyboardsnola.com CHAMOMILE: treats insomnia and anxiety, sleep aid By Carla Valencia de Martinez Photography by Gabriella Nissen 16 L O C A L | april 15 MINT: relieves symptoms of allergies and asthma CLOVES: helps arthritis GREEN TEA: improves brain function, weight loss STAR ANISE: hepatitis B, tooth decay and even HIV .
