Dear Lobo Aquatic Family,
I can’t believe it has been 4 years already since we took over as
the coaches. It has been a wild and wonderful ride watching
so many athletes grow and develop in the water and I school.
Seeing my first true senior class is a very bittersweet moment.
I am proud to have been included in their lives and I know
so much greatness is in store for them as they continue their
journey beyond Langham Creek.
As always I like to take this time to reflect on all that we ac-
complished this season and see the continued direction we are
moving towards. This year was a whirlwind of excitement that
started with the reopening of our familiar home. The new ren-
ovations to the pool were welcoming and exciting and there is
still more to come. It has been fantastic seeing the environment
the athletes train in every single day get improved. In addition
to the new renovations the new district natatorium has been a
huge blessing to the sport that deserved it more than any other.
These advances certainly helped our team grow. We broke two
more records this year, Peyton Ford in the 6x1m dives with
a score of 249.05 before he moved to Cy Fair and Katrina
Nielsen re-broke her record in the 100 back with a staggering
time of 57.83. As a team the Boys JV swim team finished 5th,
the Girls JV swim team finished second and both Varsity swim
teams finished 3rd in the district. We had several swimmers
and divers advance to the regional swim meet and one swim-
mer Katrina Nielsen qualify for the state for the second time
in her career. She represented our school, district and city well
in the 50 Freestyle. We also had a fantastic water polo season.
The boys had a young team that was eager to learn and should
be hopeful for success in the future. They did not qualify for
the regional tournament, but they did show great promise
especially in some of the Freshman and sophomore players.
The Girls team shined strong finishing 2nd in the district and
turned around and for the first time in a decade, qualified for
the State Tournament finishing 2nd in the region with a record
of 24-3 for the season. At the regional tournament 4 of the
players were named to the all-region team, matching Jersey
Village and St. Agnes for the most of any school. Those players
were Sophie Oliver (1st Team), Katrina Nielsen (2nd Team),
Grace Carey (Honorable Mention) and Hannah Vacek (Hon-
orable Mention). I am writing this letter before they are able
to play in Austin so hopefully they continue to impress us, but
we are so very proud of their hard work and dedication to this
strenuous sport.
With Swimming and Water Polo connecting seasons the
Aquatic Season is truly a year-long activity that is a huge test
for all those involved. It is a long journey, but a very reward-
ing one and we are happy with the progress we have made in
embracing the work and challenge. Not only are we improving
athletically in the water, but we continue to get better in the
classroom. This year we had the highest percentage of honor-
roll students and the lowest percentage of failure rates that we
have ever had since we stepped in to coach. Though there is
still room for improvement, this positive change is certainly
something to celebrate.
I am still in awe that I am able to work in the sports I love,
especially in the community that gave so much to me grow-
ing up. It is powerful to see that this community continues to
support and prosper amazing individuals and I am humbled to
be a part of it. I hope that our small Aquatic group continues
to shine at Langham Creek and show that we are a strong em-
bodiment of the best that CFISD has to offer. I also hope that
we continue to work hard every day and exemplify that we are
here not to just get better in swimming, diving or water polo,
but we are here to build character and live as the best versions
of ourselves.
Thank you again for a wonderful season! GO LOBOS!
