Dr. Alveda
King
In the early 1970s, Dr. Alveda
King, a niece of the late Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr.,
underwent two abortions –
one voluntary and the other
involuntary, resulting from a medical examination. After becoming
pregnant again, she attempted to get another but was preempted by
concerned family members. Burdened by guilt and unforgiveness,
King would later give her life to Christ. Since then, as a pro-life
activist and Pastoral Associate and Director of African-American
Outreach for Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries, she has
worked tirelessly to ensure that the rights of unborn children are
protected and that their mothers recognize that God offers both
healing and forgiveness.
