Dementia does not
change who you are.
Our message is that your
Community cares and that
support is out there for
you: that there’s a growing
number of things to do
and places to go and
people to see.
this guide

South Ribble Dementia Action
Alliance
Our purpose is to continue the good
work of local partners, from
independent businesses to your council
to nationwide charities, in making South
Ribble Dementia Friendly. We are
helping businesses and organisations
to realise that sometimes all a person
needs is a little more time and a little
more understanding.
What is Dementia?
Dementia is a progressive disease
which develops in different ways and at
different speeds for different people.
Among its symptoms it can affect how
you perceive the world, how your body
works, how you communicate, and
your memory.
It is not a natural part of ageing. The
brain is an organ and sometimes,
whatever our age or how healthy we
keep ourselves, things happen to it.
You’re not to blame and you’re not at
fault.
