® Robert Perry 2015 SLIM & SASSY COMPETITION GRAND PRIZE WINNER As a father of five, Robert didn’t want to let anything hold him back from a long, healthy life. With the support of his family and a tenacious willpower to succeed, Robert pushed himself past his original goal and lost a total of 64 lbs.* and 46 in. during the 2015 Slim & Sassy Competition. The Last Straw Before the Slim & Sassy Competition, Robert knew that he needed to make some changes in his life. He says, “I wanted to be healthier so that I could be around longer for my five daughters. My father died at age 63 when I was 15, and my wife’s father also passed away when she was young. My girls never knew their grand­ fathers, and I don’t want the next gener­ ation to experience the same thing. I want to be able to see my girls grow up, get married, and have children of their own.” As powerful a motivator as his family was, it took a family photo to spur him into action. He says, “I hated the way I looked. We took family pictures last Christmas, and I took up half the picture. That was the last straw. I looked terrible.” When the opportunity came, Robert quickly took the chance to compete in the Slim & Sassy Challenge. began to plateau, I pushed harder, On a Mission A Second Lease on Life His wife and kids supported him from the start. He says, “They went without a lot of treats to help me stay away from them. My wife loves to bake bread, and not having it for three months was probably the hardest commitment I had to keep.” He also told his co-workers about his goals, and they either reminded him or tempted him on a regular basis. Robert also missed eating socially, but overcame these thoughts by focusing on his purpose. Because he pushed himself every day, Robert’s momentum grew and his willpower improved over time. He began to see progress in big ways. He says, “I increased my focus each day until the end. I got better [
