Sikaab’e
Alta Verapaz
The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation ® and CHOICE Humanitarian-
Guatemala assisted in the building of the Sikaab’e vocational training
center in the mountains of Guatemala in 2015. Several projects to
update Sikaab’e began in 2017, and have continued through 2018.
The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation contributed to two CHOICE Humanitarian-Guatemala
adult-education programs in 2018: a literacy program and a radio-based education program.
The Clean Stove Program has been ongoing for a number of years, with the dōTERRA Healing
Hands Foundation and CHOICE Humanitarian-Guatemala completing 16 new stoves in 2018.
Traditionally, an open flame is used in the homes for cooking, which causes respiratory problems
and diseases for all family member—especially small children. This project replaces traditional
stoves with clean stoves, which provides an exhaust that transfers smoke out of the structure and
improves overall air quality within the home.
Literacy
Program
The literacy program is a pilot project that uses a computer-based program to teach women how
to read, write, and speak basic Spanish.
Continuing
Education
The construction for a multi-functional workshop at Sikaab’e is ongoing. The workshop will be
used for woodworking and mechanical courses, among many others.

dōTERRA HEALING HANDS FOUNDATION I ANNUAL REPORT 2018
During the 2018 school year, 61 youth (from first grade in elementary school through high school)
and adults between 15 and 57 years old participated in the radio-based program. Students
studied independently during the week while listening to the radio education program for an hour
during the day. They would then attend class once a week, during which they could ask questions
and have their work reviewed and graded.
