Shining Light
On The
Moravian Star
Where did it come from? What Does it Mean?
The Moravian Star our community recognizes today is very new to
our faith.
The story
goes that a
student at
the Boys'
School in
Germany
created the
star as a way to teach math and geometry. Our stars usually have 25 or 26 points. We now use them to represent Advent, and many Salemites make them for holiday services like
our Easter
Sunday
and
Christmas
lovefeasts.
The star conne connects
Salem to
other Moravian Congregations in the United States and all over the world.
