I am Fetya Hamid and I came to the United States in 2007 from Ethiopia. Now, I am continuing my education at Carlos Rosario School in the Nursing Aide Train- ing program. I want to be a Nurse Aide because I love to help patients. Taking care of elderly people especially makes me feel very happy. I have received a lot of compliments from my family and friends about how good I am with the elderly. For example, I help my Grandma and my friend’s Mom on my Fetya Hamid days off. I give them baths, change their clothes, prepare food, and feed them. I comb and braid my grandma’s hair. help her a lot. I decided to study the Nurse Aide Training program to gain experience and to improve my English. I enjoy being with her. Because of this experience, I would really love to be a Nurse Aide. I admire the Nurse Aides for taking care of their patients and assist- ing them with basic care. My plan for the future is to become a nurse. But before that, my current plan is to get certified as a Nurse Aide. My long term goal is to work in a hospital for a couple years to gain experience and to save money. After that, I hope to find a schol- arship to continue to study and become a Registered Nurse. This is my dream and my dream will come true. For example, my friend’s mother is living in a nursing home. She is fully paralyzed and cannot do anything by herself. The nurse assistants 53
