To have a new life in the United States has been difficult because of the language, culture, and family...At Carlos Rosario, I started in ESL 4. I finished ESL 6, then enrolled in GED Spanish. At the same time I took Culinary Arts. I studied Culinary Arts in the AM and GED in the afternoon. I graduated in Culinary Arts after two years last June. Also, I finished my GED. However, when I was doing my last GED tests, I had some problems in my family. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was a difficult situation for my family. I almost failed my tests because of the family problems I was having. A Counselor at Carlos Rosario helped me. Also, I prayed to God to keep me courageous. At the end, I passed the four GED assessments in one month. I found a new job at a restaurant very easily because of my Culinary Arts skills. I also got a fast promotion to Pre-cook. Now I am studying ESL 8, then I will take a Vocabulary class to continue to improve my English. I will apply for the UDC Community College this September and I want to start college in January next year. I want to study to become a Social Worker to help others. I want to thank those who are supporting me to achieve my goals. 50 by Osman Milla
