Becoming a Nurse Assistant by Marleni Villela Becoming a Nurse Assistant came to my mind 6 years ago. I was taking the GED classes at Carlos Rosario when I heard about other career programs and Nursing Assistant Training was one of them. At that time, I couldn’t take the class because I was moving out of the country for a couple of years. As years passed, I have watched my parents getting older. I can see that at some point they will need help with activities of their daily life. I would love to be there to help and support them the same way they have done for me my entire life. Now that I am taking the class, I am very excited to be helping people get better and to make them feel good and cared for. I have learned so much already and I can’t wait to learn more. I’m planning on continuing my studies after this program to improve my skills and knowledge and to become a registered nurse someday. In the future, I can go to Guatemala for 6 months and help my parents and return to the United States and work for 6 months here as a registered nurse to keep my skills up to date and make a living. For now, I’m taking one step at a time. Nurse Aide Training is the First Step to My Goal by Gadise Deresa When I was a high school student, I wished to become a nurse and I wanted to work in the health field because I liked working with people who couldn’t take care of themselves. I wished to provide the best care for them. When I thought about a health care job, I always felt happy. Another thing was that I understood that health care field was a place where any kind of disease can be diagnosed. I want to get a better job for my life and I want to improve my skills. After I start working as a nursing assistant, I can develop my professional experience and knowledge in the future. I have opportunities to grow in healthcare and there are a lot of courses available to help me advance. So, after I get a job, I want to develop my skills and may make it a career in the future. That’s why I decided to join this career program. In general, my goals are to be a Nurse Assistant and after that I will get a job. I want to grow in healthcare step by step. 43
