Fast Food , Hard Work

By Herrializ Ruiz Ortiz

ESL 3

My first job in the U . S . was in Chipotle Mexican Grill in Washington D . C . I prepared sauce and served as a line cook . For starters , I didn ’ t like this job because it was hard and too far from my house . Second , I felt anxious because it was rough and one person had to do three things at the same time . Third , the place was small and wasn ’ t comfortable to work and , paid minimum wage . This job was very hard for me because I was standing all day and felt exhausted . Also , Chipotle sold spicy food and I can ’ t eat spicy food . Every night I came home late and starving . To conclude , working in fast food and preparing food and offering good service is difficult for me but , I tried and gained experience for future jobs .

My Experience Learning English

By Oliver Ngounoue

When I arrived to the United States I didn ’ t speak English . It was so difficult to say something on the bus , at the market or store . One day my friend told me that he knows a school where I can learn good English . That is why I am happy here at Carlos Rosario School . I want to learn how to speak , write , and understand English . I am so happy to be here because I have a nice teacher . She takes time to take care of all students . She has a lot of material to explain English to me and to other students . Grammar and writing are difficult . I know I need to work hard next semester .
