Level 8 My Life by Yanick Prince Tchitembo L F eaving my country to go to a new place has been something amazing and extraordinary to me, and I got culture shock. Besides that, I was excited to discover a new custom, a new language and felt amazed. There are so many differences and similarities which changed completely my life when I came to America last November. irst, in France I used to cook organic fresh food at least every day at home because of my flexible schedules and the meals’ moderate prices. All the year in my city called Iles de Provinces where the weather is always as in summer time and where I can find any different kind of vegetables or tropical fruits in the market easily. For example there is a place called Le Marche du Jour where I went each day to do my shopping and my own menu such as salade nicoise, porc a la dijoinnaise or poulet basquaise aux introduits. It was also very wonderful because my school was just near my home. That means my timing was very flexible for me and I took it seriously. Hence I took advantage of organizing my alimentation. For example, I ate always three times each day. In contrast, currently in U.S., all my meals are based on fast food and frozen food. At the same time I have a multiple choice of food while nothing is really fresh. For example, I usually eat food like hamburgers, pizzas, hot dog, or some American desserts such as fluffy candy or crispy cookies. I felt like I gained weigh
