Level 8 I Am Proud of Myself for Achieving My Goal Everyone wants to improve their life. Several years ago, I was living in the countryside of Ethiopia with my family. My family and I were farmers and we worked to produce food. However, we couldn’t get enough food for all of us. My siblings and I couldn’t go to school and we were unhappy. I decided to go to Addis Ababa to have a job, to go to school and to make my life better. Living in Addis Ababa was very hard without any family members. It was the first time that I had been separated from the family, and I was very nervous. Even though it was very difficult living there, I found a job that could help me to buy what I needed. I sent money to my parents for food and clothes. In addition, I was supportive of my siblings and inspired them to get a job to do the same for the family. I showed up early to work because it was a priority. I decided to go to school and learn because education was very important. I learned to read and write more in Addis Ababa. I read books and newspapers while I was working, and I also listened to the radio and watched 78
