E x t ra C u r r i c u l a r - C o n v e r s t a i o n a n d S p e a k i n g d ul-Fitr Ei The main festival in Muslim culture in Egypt is Eid ul-Fitr. We celebrate this after Ramadan which is the 30 days when we fast from sunrise to sundown and eat only at night. People help others and being a good person is the focus of the holiday. At the festival we watch the moon to see when we begin. We eat dates first to end the fast and begin with sweets. To prepare for the holiday we buy new clothes and make cookies. We clean and decorate. We go to the mosque and then visit family. We celebrate here one day and in our country it lasts three days. Rasha Ahamed Teacher: Ruth Ticktin, AM 44
