Black History Month Michelle Obama “America should be a place where you can make it if you try.” Sculpture by Edmond Nassa. Teacher: Allison Neeland, Level 8, AM. -Michelle Obama As the first lady said “America should be a place where you can make it if you try.” I believe that in a lot of ways America is a place where you can make it. This country provides more opportunities than any othor country in the world. Every day hundreds of immigrants come to this country to persue their dreams, some succeed, and some do not. I know thousands of Armenian immigrants that came to America not just for a better life but they came because they were running for there lives. Among those was a young man who came to America as an orphan with nothing. By the end of his life he was a world famous artist. His name is Arshil Gorki. You can see his works at the Modern Art Museum and National Gallery of Art. So I believe that you can most definitely make it in this country. It is up to you to decide if you want it or not.
