How Has My Life Changed in the United States? By Nester Orozco I was seventeen years old, studying in high school. One of my friends was living in the United States. I asked him to help me to come here. He said he would help me and I left high school. Now I have lived here for six years. My life has changed in many ways. The United States is a country where I found many opportunities for myself. First, I started to learn English. This is a good option for me to get a better job. I have more communication with people on the street or any place. I have had many different kinds of jobs. The one I am interested in and the one I am learning about is engineering. I‟m proud to live in the United States. I‟m proud for what I have been able to accomplish. Thanksgiving By Romeo Cabrera I am grateful for the Thanksgiving Day. I‟m going to give thanks to God for my great list, for my family and for my job. I‟m happy because I‟m going to eat with my sister, my cousins and my friends. We are going to have a good Thanksgiving Day. Maybe in the afternoon, I‟m going to play soccer with my friends, or I‟m going to go shopping with my sister. That‟s going to be the way I‟m going to spend my day. I will have been living in this country for eight years. When I came, the Thanksgiving Day was the first American holiday that I experienced. That was very good because I did not celebrate it in my country. Teacher: Judye Hering GED English Evening Fall 2009 Judye Hering GED English Fall 2009 67
