How My Life Has Changed

I last went to school in my country when I was nineteen years old.
Everybody in my class was familiar and
they were from my neighborhood. Almost all of the students in the whole
school spoke the same local language.
But now, after so many years, I
decided to come back to school. Everything is different. I have met different people from different cultures and
countries here. We are all here for
the same goal, which is to
learn or to get an education. This will help us in
our pursuit of happiness.
In a few days, it‟s
going to be Thanksgiving.
I can see how everybody
is getting ready for this
cultural holiday. I have
learned that this holiday
is very important for
Americans because of the
way families get together in reunions
and so many family activities take place
on this day.
For the six years that I have
lived in the United States, Thanksgiving Day has changed me or has taught
me the value and importance of having
this kind of gathering for my family.
Two years ago, I introduced the culture to my clan back in Uganda, and
they celebrated it with or without me being there.
I am really glad that I came
back to America, and the culture
that I learned and introduced is
working out well for my family.
Who knows, it might spread to
the whole nation!
