There is Nothing Free in America Except Education at Carlos Rosario By Mekonnen Fisseha their students by organizing various programs like the job fair, law clinic, yoga, piano lessons, special education workshops and student counseling and so many other things besides a free education. So far, I like the cleanliness of the school, the curriculum, the students and the staff. This motivates me after a long time of not attending school to study seriously. Now I plan to attend college in the near future and to have a career. We build friendships” Teacher: Sally McElroy Level 6 Afternoon Fall 2009 41 Level 6 My name is Fisseha Mekonnen. I am originally from Ethiopia. I learned about Carlos Rosario International School from a friend when she registered. I was very surprised by the well-organized registration. I was very satisfied. Then I stood in line to register myself. After my registration, I got a chance to start ESL at level 6. After several years of not attending school, I was calling myself a student again. On my first day, August 31, 2009, I found the class a kind of tapestry weaving. The students are from different cultures and backgrounds: from Japan, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Mexico, China, Ethiopia, Eritrea and our teacher, Mrs. McElroy, from The U.S. Our classmates are more than classmates. We build friendships. Last time all of us signed and wished best wishes for our classmate, Bertha, when she left us for maternity leave. Carlos Rosario is dedicated to
