There is Nothing Free in America Except
Education at Carlos Rosario
By Mekonnen Fisseha
their students by organizing various
programs like the job fair, law clinic,
yoga, piano lessons, special education
workshops and student counseling
and so many other things besides a
free education.
So
far, I like
the cleanliness of the
school, the
curriculum,
the students and
the staff.
This motivates me
after a long time of not attending
school to study seriously. Now I plan
to attend college in the near future
and to have a career.
Thank for to all Carlos Rosario
staff members and special thanks
for my teacher, Mrs. Sally McElroy.

Level 6
My name is Fisseha Mekonnen.
I am originally from Ethiopia. I
learned about Carlos Rosario International School from a friend when
she registered. I was very surprised
by the well-organized registration. I
was very satisfied. Then
I stood in line to register myself. After my
registration, I got a
chance to start ESL at
level 6.
After several years
of not attending school,
I was calling myself a
student again. On my
first day, August 31,
2009, I found the class a kind of
tapestry weaving. The students are
from different cultures and backgrounds: from Japan, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Mexico,
China, Ethiopia, Eritrea and our
teacher, Mrs. McElroy, from The
U.S.
Our classmates are more than
classmates. We build friendships.
Last time all of us signed and wished
best wishes for our classmate, Bertha, when she left us for maternity
leave.
