Mexico is a Treasure Life in the United States By Matilde Carrera by Yojahira Mejia Mexico isn‟t only a country. It is a big treasure. Mexico has many treasures. The word Mexico means “the navel of the moon.” Mexico has 31 states and 1 federal district. We have beaches in different states. The country has deserts in some states. There are many rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. Mexico has diverse weather from sun, clouds, wind, rain, and snow. It has important painters, for example Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Also, it has singers, for example Thalia, Paulina Rubio, and Vicente Fernandez. We have traditional food. In the state of Puebla, it‟s mole poblano. In Guadalajara, it‟s tortas ahogadas. The other Mexican food includes tamales, barbacoa, and taquitos. Some people make crafts with pottery, woodworking, engraving, marble, and onyx. Mexico has different minerals, metals, and big diversity of animals. Every year many people travel to Mexico to enjoy it. I will write about life in the United States. I came here one year ago. I like life here but in the beginning I found many problems. I didn‟t understand English. I felt embarrassed, but I got one opportunity in Carlos Rosario school. It was difficult. The first semester I didn‟t win the lottery. I was worried because I didn‟t speak English. But now my life changed “But now my life a little. I‟m changed a little. studying. I I’m studying. feel more free. I un- I feel more free.” derstand a little more. Now I enjoy the different culture here. Everyone celebrates different things. Life in the United States is more comfortable. In the beginning it is very hard, but then it changes and now I enjoy the beautiful places and everything.
