That was a really fun single to release because we knew what was going to happen. We knew we would get this really polarised response. We knew there was gonna be a bunch of old school Sticky fans who would go ‘What the fuck is this shit?’ but then it also drew in lots of new fans who didn’t like the old stuff so basically we’d just been around Europe and the UK twice and just played with a lot of other bands and a lot of other music was happening and we thought fuck let’s play a song big and loud and when we played it at Splendour it went off, it was really fun. How was Splendour this year for you … well worth it? Yeah it was a milestone gig for us, hey. We feel like Sticky Fingers in Australia is still a very much underrated band because of the way that we operate. Like, we are pretty much a 100% independent band that, you know, in Australia, everyone is kinda in cahoots with each other, like booking agents and record labels and A & R reps, etcetera, and we kinda don’t play that game with any of them and they hate us for it. They hate that we’re getting away with not having to play at their shitty game. So we played at Splendour at like 2pm and we got 20,000 people down at 2pm which is a record for where we played for an early attendance, so it was great. So what do you think of the Gold CoastByron area now you’ve spent some time up here? Yeah it’s one of the loveliest places in the world – there’s something about when you’re in that area. You always leave rejuvenated and floating in the clouds. We also spent three years playing at Woodford as well which was a beautiful spot, we always have a fucking great time up there. And have to throw it out there – is your hair cut anything to do with Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap? No I get all sorts of compliments–slash– pisstakes ... whether it’s Spinal Tap or Liam Gallagher or Noel Fielding. But basically I went to a Catholic school but I always liked having long hair but you weren’t allowed to have hair past your collar and I had a fringe - when I finished school I just grew the back out and it started working for me. Land Of Pleasure album is out now , check it out, it’s pretty damn good! Missed the Cooly show? Check the m out at the Great Northern Byron on Saturday 18th Oct - it’s sold out, see how you go sneakin g in the back Otherwise, they are playing again at Falls Festival at New Years in Byron www.fallsfestival.com.au Get the latest from the Sticky Fin gers camp by visiting www.stickyfingerstheba nd.com
