THE TEA PARTY The Ocean At The End (Released Sept 8, Anthem/Sony) Hard to believe it’s been 10 years since they’ve brought out anything, so raise your pinky fingers and sip up the sounds on The Ocean At The End, the new studio album which apparently has Byron Bay to thank for hosting the Canadian trio when they started writing the album last year. Produced by Jeff Martin, and mixed by three-time Grammy winner David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Muse, Tool), you’ll hear it in the flesh when they tour OZ in October. Gigs: Gold Coast, Coolangatta Hotel, Oct 21and Brisbane, The Tivoli, Oct 23 JIMI HENDRIX The Cry of Love & Rainbow Bridge (Vinyl out Oct 24, Sony) Two classic out-of-print Jimi Hendrix albums are making a comeback. Digital and CD versions of The Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge were just released on September 19, but if you really want to hug it, there’ll be vinyl soon. The bulk of all the tracks on both were recorded between December 1969 and the summer of 1970 at Electric an ambitious double LP Lady Studios in New York, and that never eventuated were intended to be part of after Hendrix died in 1970. THE KINKS The Anthology 1964 – 1971 (Out Nov 7, Sony) On September 10th 1964, half a century ago, the Kinks had their first number one with the classic You Really Got Me and now you can grab another piece of this rock ‘n roll history in a box set of five discs to celebrate the 50th anniversary, featuring over 100 songs, all newly remastered. Not to mention rare demos, interviews, alternate mixes, session outtakes, 25 previously unavailable tracks, an exclusive 7” single and extensive liner notes.
