BOB DYLAN // Shadows In The Night (Out now, Sony Music Entertainment Australia) After selling more than 125 million records around the world, this is Bob Dylan’s 36th studio album no less. It reveals Dylan’s interpretation of 10 classic American songs from Some Enchanted Evening to Autumn Leaves, and delivers his style of refining complicated arrangements for 30-piece orchestras down to those uniquely tailored for his five-piece band. Hell it’s BD, just get it! AMORPHOUS ANDROGYNOUS // A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble (Exploding In Your Mind) The Wizards of Oz (March 13, Monstrous Bubble/Festival Records) Once you’ve wrapped your head around the title, it’s easier to accept that this is an antipodean cosmic space music odyssey from 1966 to present day through the eyes of Australia and New Zealand. Please explain? Well, take Aussie classics like The Real Thing from Russell Morris and more recent recordings from the likes of Pond and Tame Impala, and see this UK psychedelic DJ duo weave and mash tracks together for two-plus hours - farkin epic! Badbadnotgood and Ghostface Killah // Sour Soul (February 24, Lex Records) Here’s a collab album from Toronto jazz/hip-hop band Badbadnotgood and Staten Island rap legend Ghostface Killah, available digitally on February 24 and physically on February 27, with the Wu-Tang boss blastin’ it on every track. Taking inspiration from the recording techniques and production of the 1960s and ‘70s, Sour Soul eschews sampling in favour of live instrumentation. Others featured include Danny Brown, DOOM and Elzhi, formerly of Slum Village. MADEON // Adventure (March 27, Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment Australia) He’s 20 and already worked with artists including Muse and Coldplay, as well as claimed the title of the first electronic artist in history to perform a full production show on the floor of the New York stock exchange (huh?). You might have caught him at Future Music Festival in 2013 in between dodging seatbeltwearing leg-waxing gym freaks. Either way, this DJ/producer’s got some crazy shit going on.
