I grew up in that area and that’s definitely one of my favourite point breaks on the Gold Coast - if it’s on and I’m in the vicinity I’ll definitely be there.” You used to do a lot of comps right? Not as many these days - why is that? “I guess I dropped off the scene there for a bit, I was a bit disillusioned with where longboarding was going, with where it was headed, I went well for a while and ... I mean obviously it wasn’t a good career option for me. I wanted to kind of get out there and, now I’ve finished my apprenticeship and I’m moving through my career in construction so, and that’s taken me in different directions as well. I still surf as much as possible, but I don’t really want to chase the contests sometimes, I think I’d rather take my time off to go and find good waves not grovel in some other comp so to speak.
