Editor’s Introduction
WELCOME TO FROTH! Almost two years of planning, month after month of tears and sweat,
and yes the occasional bit of spilled claret - we’re finally here! The Gold Coast is my home,
and the water is my blood - I belong to this place a lot more than it will ever belong to me.
My name is Luke Sorensen and I’ve been shooting surfing images here for well over 20 years.
I am so very amped to bring this magazine forward, into fruition and reality, and to share
with the world just how amazing the surfing lifestyle is here at home. We have arguably
the greatest surfing city on the planet, some of the greatest waves to match and I believe
we need a platform to stand on in this day and age, a hub and central point to proudly
showcase the beauty and strength of our surfing culture, environment and seaside
personalities to the entire world.
It’s not just my view though - I hope for the magazine to be the view and voice of so many
more, and provide a pathway for which our stories can be told and shared, our moments of
excitement, fear and collectiveness captured, and the people who are the true foundation
here recognised for all time.
There are many who have inspired me, plus so many more incredible people to thank
that it’s just not possible right here and now, but over time the FROTH pages will pay them
respect - for now I can say they all have earned that respect from me convincingly.
In a rapidly approaching paperless world, FROTH will embrace it and run with it, a digital
magazine with traditional magazine style and values - we hope you’re frothing as much as
we are and can join us on this journey.
From all of us here, this magazine is our gift to all of you!
