the ocean that was classic, today I’m going
on a sort of high-brow ABC radio show, they’re
asking me about politics and stuff … I mean
it’s all the same package of who I am, and I’m
happy to answer questions about whatever
the hell I do - because life is really varied, and
you should just do whatever the fuck you want
and not worry about anything else really.
"I am an artist, that’s what I do. I live and die by
my art and creativity is what I love - I still make
a good living and I’ve done really well but
it’s like, nothing is more important than being
able to express yourself, and just be yourself.
If I was giving advice to anyone that wanted
to live an artistic life, it is just be yourself and
express yourself how you feel - it’s a really good
anchor ... to know who you are and what you
do. After that, life’s a bit easier to deal with. "
And just what is going through Kram’s mind
and pumping through his veins when he’s
midway through Black Betty? “It’s just pure
energy ... you’ve got the crowd, the sound of
the band, the drumming, the singing, you’ve
got big things happening at the same time
to create this one monolith of awesomeness,
you know, it’s really infectious. I pinch myself
every time, when I look out into the crowd
and think ‘this is what I actually do and who I
am’. We both live close to Byron, so you and I
know, there’s all the surfers that probably feel
the same way, whether its Kelly Slater or some
grommy up at Snapper, you know they do it
‘cause they love it ... it defines them and it’s
great to have that in your life."
