INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

MAY 2019

THE LION'S ROAR

4

On April 5, the PTFA hosted an International Night for our Pre-K through Grade 2 students and their families. This special evening is designed each year to honor the various cultures represented here at Cornerstone and to give an opportunity for families to share their culture with others. We enjoyed a potluck-style meal

together, where families brought traditional dishes from their countries of origin. We also heard from Tiffany Haynes (CCS parent) about her family’s experience as missionaries in the country of Mozambique, Africa. How wonderful that we can celebrate our diverse backgrounds; yet, in Christ, we are united as ONE BODY!

For Christians, the Easter season is a time of special celebration! We remember Christ’s death on the cross followed by His triumphant resurrection from the dead, proving His power over sin and death. For those who have received Him personally by acknowledging their own sin and need of a Savior, this is a reason to rejoice. A relationship with Christ secures one’s eternal life, fills believers with hope, and gives great purpose to living. What a gift to be able to teach these truths to all our students at CCS!

On April 10, we enjoyed a school-wide Easter chapel. We were led in worship by our high school praise band and then heard an inspiring message about Jesus' death and resurrection by CCS parent and local pastor, Randall Pekari. Finally, we were delighted to hear from our Pre-K students as they shared a skit and a few songs about the biblical heroine, Queen Esther. It was a wonderful time to celebrate this sacred season together!
