Each Wednesday during the month of February, we were delighted to hear from missionaries at home and abroad during our school-wide missions chapels. It is encouraging for our students to hear how others are living out Christ’s Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 to “go and make disciples of all nations.” These chapels also served as a reminder that as God’s people, we are called to do the same thing!

The first missions’ chapel speaker was CCS alumna, Rebecca Burger, who shared about her 3-year missionary experience in Iraq. She and her team ministered to the Yazidi people group who had been displaced when the Islamic State took over their territory and tried to force conversions to Islam. Rebecca was able to come alongside these displaced people to pray and to offer compassion by listening to their stories and lending practical help in an effort to be the hands and feet of Christ.

We were snowed out the second week, but the following week CCS alumna, Jacqueline Perreault, shared about her work with The Hartford Project (THP). She is the Program Director who became involved with THP back when she was in high school at CCS. She fell in love with the city and people of Hartford and now works with various church groups each summer to share the love of Christ with the community. She encouraged our students to get involved locally with missions and make a difference in the lives of others.

The final week we heard from one of our own students, Blake, who traveled to Guatemala with 15 others from his church last summer. They engaged in a puppet ministry where they ministered to local children and their families and shared the love of Christ. Then, we heard from Bryan Bywater, a pastor who is involved in incarnational ministry in Hartford, where he and his family meet the needs of people in practical ways.

We were blessed to hear what God is doing around the world, and we pray each one of our students is encouraged to get involved with missions in obedience to Christ’s call to believers.

THE LION'S ROAR

Through a connection at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, several of our high schoolers were given an opportunity to perform at a local coffeehouse in Rockville called Jacob’s Well. On February 1, seven of our Praise Team students shared their musical talents with the greater community as they ministered in song for 75 minutes. We are delighted by the way God is using CCS to raise up students to make an impact for His kingdom.
