God’s Provision Times Two!
Mark your calendars now for an afternoon you will not want to miss! Our last major “FUN”draiser of the year is our annual auction, which is being held on Saturday, April 27th, from 1-4 PM. This Broadway-themed auction will offer many goods, services, and items for sale. The bakery treats are likely to delight you as well. Please invite family, friends, and neighbors to join in the fun. The afternoon promises to be one of the highlights of the school year! We hope to see you there!
Of all the tours given at CCS, parents always rate “Safety” as the number one priority for their students’ education. At CCS, we desire to keep our students safe: physically, emotionally and spiritually. One of the programs we’ve started this year with our upper elementary students is called Young Peacemakers. This program seeks to teach children to recognize conflict and resolve issues in a godly way. The hope is that with increased exposure and using common language, our students will have the skills necessary to settle their differences in a way that honors God. Here’s a testimonial from 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Cyndy Bezz:
“I have enjoyed the introduction of the Young Peacemakers program into the upper elementary grades. The Christian values and problem-solving strategies are helpful and often tie into what I am teaching in the classroom. This past week Mrs. Snellenberger was instructing the students on making godly choices (My Way vs. Wise Way). Back in the classroom I was able to connect this directly to our Bible lesson on Israel’s' divided kingdom. We had been learning about Rehoboam, who did not take the wise advice from the Israelite elders, but he instead relied on poor advice from his peers. He made a "my way" choice, and in so doing, he choose negative consequences that the whole nation of Israel had to endure (the split of the nation and eventual captivity of both Israel and Judah). Being able to make this connection was so valuable, because it illustrated to the students that, not only are these principles age-old, but they are also godly ways to work together for our own individual good and for the good of God's kingdom.”
Annual Auction
At CCS, we know our dependence is upon God! In fact, our school has survived nearly 40 years due to God’s faithfulness, which is often expressed through the generosity of others! We have had two significant donations this past month, both of which are a significant boost to our school’s programs!
The first donation was for student computers for the
computer lab and various
individual classrooms.
Dan Snellenberger,
current CCS parent, and
Cynthia Girgenti, former
CCS parent and
employee of Pratt and
Whitney, worked together
to secure a generous
donation of 40 desktop
computers, along with
the monitors, keyboards,
mice, and cables for each
computer. This sizable
donation allows CCS to
keep our technology
current and in good
working order for our
students and faculty.
The second donation was a complete surprise and blessing for both our Pre-K program and our PTFA! Earlier in December, Big Y (grocery store) was offering a Holiday Wish Sweepstakes, through which schools were invited to create a video or write a letter explaining why they were deserving of a monetary gift for their school. Our PTFA has been working toward the renovation of the Pre-K play area located behind the elementary building. Part of the expense of the renovation is the need for special installation of artificial turf due to the large oak trees and their expansive root system. The PTFA received an estimate that it will cost approximately $8,000 for that part of the task.
Needing help with the
task, Dawn
Snellenberger,
Assistant Administrator,
invited high
schoolers. and four
freshmen boys
answered the call for
help! Sam, Gabe, Ben
and Luke created a
short video, and it was
sent in for the
sweepstakes. In early
February, Dawn received
a certified letter
informing her that Big Y
was going to contribute
$5,000 toward the
renovation costs! This
provision shows what happens when God’s people operate as ONE BODY--linking arms with one another and sharing our gifts and talents to accomplish a large task.
Thank you, boys and PTFA, for your help!
