Signs MoU with MECA to
Enhance Environmental
Management

OHAR Port and Freezone and the
Ministry of Environment and Climate
Affairs (MECA) signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) on November
18, at the MECA Head Office in Muscat.
The MoU details a long-term strategic
programme between SOHAR and
MECA for the continuous enhancement
of environmental management in the
SOHAR area. The programme focuses
on environmental permitting, compliance
of all Port and Freezone operations

with international best practices and
continuous monitoring of the impact of
operations on the environment
The MoU was signed by HE Najeeb bin
Ali Al Rawas, Undersecretary of MECA,
and HE Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser
Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of
SOHAR.
Highlighting the importance of effective
environmental management, HE
Najeeb bin Ali Al Rawas said, “The
application of this programme will greatly
contribute towards ensuring that all the
operations within SOHAR adhere to
international standards. The Ministry is
