Australia. The ‘Myriad’ exhibition
provided an opportunity for more than
60 artists from across the state to display
more than 150 pieces of artwork at the
Adelaide Convention Centre as part of
the SA Living Artists (SALA) Festival.

Scope’s annual awards
Victorian disability service provider Scope
celebrated its annual awards in Melbourne
recently, recognising the accomplishments
of Scope customers as well as the
achievements of Scope staff and members
of the community. Jayne Boxall, winner of
the Debbie Otto Award, is pictured above
with Scope CEO Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald.

Invictus Games
The fourth Invictus Games were
held in Sydney from October
20-27, 2018, with the Australian
team comprising 18 serving and 54
former serving military personnel.

4 Having A Say Conference
This year will be the 20th anniversary of
the Having a Say Conference, which is
being held on February 4-6 in Geelong,
Victoria. The Having a Say conference is
the largest conference for people with
disabilities in Australia, where people can
find their voice, speak up, be heard and be
respected. The 20th anniversary conference
theme is ‘Having a Say Forever!’

19 Disability Support Workers Conference
Multicap and CPL will host the Disability
Support Workers Conference in Brisbane
on February 19 and 20. The two-day
conference is specifically designed for
disability support workers offering an
opportunity to engage with industry
leaders and peers, learn cutting edge
techniques and hear experiences from
people with disability.

4 NDS Victorian Conference
The NDS Victorian State Conference
will be held at the Crown Conference
Centre in Melbourne on March 4 and 5.
The conference theme is ‘From obstacles
to opportunities’. It offers members the
opportunity to network with colleagues,
explore examples of good practice in
service delivery, and better understand
the implications of NDIS policy and
current practice.

28 Sexuality and intellectual disability:
a master class
Join Deakin University’s School of Health
and Social Development for a masterclass
to promote understanding of sexuality
and relationships in the lives of people
with intellectual disability. The masterclass
will showcase applied research and
learning from leaders in the field alongside
examples of best practice in service
provision and support. Keynote speaker is
Dr Michael Gill from Syracuse University,
New York, and presentations on the day
will cover sexual abuse, sexual and gender
diversity, and working with indigenous
populations.
