Etihad Energy Service
Company (Etihad ESCO)
announced the signing of an
energy performance contract
with Drydocks World’s
Dubai shipyard for the
implementation of a range of
energy conservation measures
(ECMs) aimed at improving
energy efficiency of the facility.
These include replacement of
conventional lights with LED
lights; existing window AC units
with inverter AC units and
installation of water aerators
and flow regulators. The
project, upon completion, will
guarantee an annual electricity
savings of 1.8 million KWh and
12 million IG of water, cutting
down consumption by 9% per
cent, saving AED 1.4 million
annually in terms of cost.
Drydocks World is the largest
shipyard service provider to
the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy
sectors in the Middle East. Considering the
vast area of work, Etihad ESCO proposed
multiple Energy Conservation Measures
(ECMs) that offer enormous scope of
energy savings. The retrofit project will be
implemented for 23 buildings mainly used for
the staff accommodation of the shipyard.
As part of the project, the Super ESCO will
replace fluorescent, metal halide and other
conventional lights with high efficiency LED
