J uly 1 marked another stage of the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, with new regions and age groups being added to the scheme across five states and territories. The NDIS began rolling out on July 1, 2013, commencing in South Australia, Tasmania, the Hunter Region in New South Wales and the Barwon area of Victoria. The NDIS commenced in the ACT in July of 2014, and the national rollout began in July of 2016. With such a huge scheme, stages of the NDIS have been progressively added, with the full scheme expected to be rolled out by 2019. On July 1, 2017, the following stages were rolled onto the scheme: • Northern Territory: Darwin Remote, Katherine and eligible people in supported accommodation in Alice Springs • Queensland: Ipswich • New South Wales: South Eastern Sydney, Sydney, Far West District, Illawarra Shoalhaven, Mid North Coast, Murrumbidgee, Northern NSW and Western NSW • South Australia: Barossa Light and Lower North and • Tasmania: Children aged 4 to 11 In regions, or for age groups, where the NDIS has Northern Adelaide for adults aged 18 to 64 years not been rolled out yet, supports continue to be made available for those eligible through state or territory based services. The July 1 changes were not limited to participants, though, with price guides for registered service providers also changing on this date.
