interview to retrain the brain . While it is not effective for everyone , I personally found it eased my pain and with regular practice for about six months I was able to stop taking phantom pain medication .”
Chris ’ s fiancé , Chloe , has been by his side through the rehabilitation process , and explained to Link Magazine that once the initial shock of the attack was over , there was a long road ahead for her and Chris .
“ Rehab was a really hard time ,” Chloe said . “ We were adjusting to huge changes in our lives , and trying to remain positive . We really focused on ensuring Chris had lots of support to help him get through the more challenging times .”
One of the things that Chloe helped with was establishing a GoFundMe page for Chris , to allow him to purchase a prosthetic that would give him movement similar to what he had in his leg .
“ The GoFundMe page has been great in raising some money to purchase my first microprocessor knee ,” Chris said .
“ This was really important to me because this type of knee has given me the confidence to move as close to normal , and like I used to .
“ I find I can now take on stairs and hills without having to look at my feet with every step , which seems like nothing , but these are the little things you take for granted when you have two legs .”
Chris said that the GoFundMe page received donations and messages from friends , family , and strangers , but that it was more than just the financial donations , but the time that anyone from family to
