Performance Line Breed Improvement Services to be Provided by The Beef Center By Tonya Amen, National Center for Beef Excellence It’s my pleasure to write this note of introduction to the National Center for Beef Excellence (The Beef Center). We will be collaborating with the North American Limousin Foundation for breed improvement services and delivery of your bi-annual multi-breed international cattle evaluation. The Beef Center is a not-for-profit organization that provides service to the beef industry, focusing on improving communication and innovation to improve the longevity of U.S. beef cattle farms and ranches. Assisting breed organizations in meeting staffing challenges and providing service to their membership and stakeholders is one way this mission is accomplished. The other two phases of our mission are focused on 1) data collection, tracking, evaluation, research, and export market expansion for U.S. beef products for the commercial sector and 2) providing incubator/accelerator services for new and upcoming agricultural and beef industry-related businesses. As part of our collaboration with NALF, I am especially excited to be working personally with NALF staff and members to help relieve some of the work-load associated with Joe Epperly’s departure. In the past, I’ve worked with genomics companies and breed associations focusing on breed improvement, genetic evaluation, and the application of genomic technology. I look forward to continuing this work on behalf of Limousin breeders. Specifically, here are some of the areas where my work with NALF will focus: multi- breed international cattle evaluation preparation and review, consultation with the breed improvement committee, and providing member services. Twice yearly, the multi-breed international cattle evaluation is run for purebred, fullblood, and Lim-Flex sires and dams. The process requires Commercially Approved For 45 Years With our cattle feeding background our commercial cattle roots run deep. We’re proud our bulls are working in top commercial programs across the country. Our customers are our priority and many have been with us right from the start. 38th Annual Production Sale February 22, 2018 S elling 90 B ullS • 15 O pen F emaleS • 15 B red F emaleS All Polled • Both Red & Black • Purebred & Lim-Flex Make your plans to be with us!
