A Look at NALF Statistics

NALF’s fiscal year ended August
31, 2017 and there were some
interesting registration statistics.
First, 53.1 percent of the
membership registers between
one and five head of cattle, and
81.6 percent of the membership
recorded between one and 20
head this past fiscal year. On the
other hand, only 0.2 percent of
the membership (two breeders)
recorded over 1,000 head.
Running Creek Ranch in Elizabeth,
Colo., lead the way in registrations
with 1,367 head. A close second
was Wulf Cattle, Morris, Miinn.,
with 1,342 head. Other operations
in the top ten included: Magness
Land and Cattle, Platteville,
Colo.; Liberty Ranch, Plainville,
Kan.; GV Limousin, Garnett,
Kan.; Coleman Limousin, Charlo,
Mont.; May Farms, Lamar,
Colo., Hager Cattle Company,
Karlsruhe, N.D.; Symens Brothers,
Amherst, S.D.; and Pinegar

Remaining the number one
state for registrations, Colorado
recorded 3,077 head this past
year. Following behind were
South Dakota, Minnesota,
Oklahoma, and Kansas. Oklahoma
was first in terms of NALF
members who registered cattle,
with 133 different operations.
Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, and
Iowa rounded out the top five.
The leading sire for registrations
was MAGS Aviator, owned by
Linhart Limousin, Leon, Iowa.
Followed by Wulfs Xcellsior
X252X, Wulf Cattle, Morris, Minn.,
and third went to RUNL Stetson
850S, who is also owned by Wulf
Cattle. The number four sire, in
terms of registrations, was RUNL
Adidas 14A bred by Running
Creek Ranch, Elizabeth, Colo.,
and fifth went to SYES Backstage

Limousin, Springfield, Mo. To
make the list of top 50 breeders,
in terms of registrations, you
had to record at least 75 head.
Texas saw more NALF members
register cattle for the first time
than any other state. Second
place went to Missouri, third
was Oklahoma, Iowa was fourth,
and fifth went to Florida.
