Junior Perspective
agreed, as did Senate leaders,
that having the land be sold
off wouldn’t be as productive
as if we could have the land
somehow donated or rented
to an agriculture institute.
That was when Ohio State
University stepped in with
their agriculture programs,
seeming extremely interested.
Now, of course here we are in
2019, two years later, and you’re
probably thinking, so, what
happened? As a student at Ohio
State, I️ had thought the decision
would be a quick ‘yes’ or ‘no’
answer with the other matters
that would need attention to in
the college, but what ended up
happening was that not only
was Ohio State interested in
looking at
the land to
place a bid
to purchase,
they wanted
to see
what could
be done
to help
to assist
rural high
schools in
also using the land for learning!
Two years later and Ohio State
is still working out the gimmicks
in terms of purchase, with the
barns still empty and the land
not worked. It is evident that
no matter what will happen
with the land, there is interest
and still a hope for American
agriculture and teaching the
youth about the joys and
discomforts of agriculture life,
and that is where I️ think we
can all agree that in terms of
our industry focus, we all will
continue to thrive with a little
bit of perseverance and grit. I
