President ’ s Message

Reflections and Plans

By Gary Fuchs , NALF president
Welcome to the March issue of LIMOUSIN TODAY . In this issue , we reflect on the events of Denver 2018 and the results of our 2016 breeding decisions as bull and production sales are planned and conducted . In March , most of us are getting the first look at our 2018 calf crop and begin to evaluate our decisions made during this time in 2017 . We also plan as we select our next herd sire , AI sires and the female selections that will produce the animals we will sell in 2020 .
In this issue , we recognize the winners and participants in the various shows conducted during Denver 2018 . I congratulate each winner for their success during the show . I also appreciate your desire and your dedication to present cattle from your programs for public evaluation and making them available as representatives of our breed for the general public to view . I am confident the more people
that see our cattle , in any forum , the greater the opportunity for our breed to grow .
I also want to take a few words to congratulate the winners of our various awards during the 2018 Membership Banquet . The way each of you use and promote Limousin cattle is to be commended . We are honored to have each of you as part of our family and hope you have many more positive experiences with Limousin cattle .
At this writing , we are into bull sales season . Many of you have already conducted your sales . I congratulate you
I start studying the cattle that are being promoted when information about Denver begins . I continue when I walk the aisles on the hill and in the yards . I consider what sires and dams were used and which ones were successful producers . for your efforts . I hope each of you are rewarded profitably for your production .
Bull sale season also affords us a time to consider the future . Whether we are a seedstock producer or commercial cattleman , the decisions we make each spring affect our herds for many years . I enjoy this time of planning . The opportunity to evaluate cattle and breeding programs , the successes and lack of success of breeding decisions , and to see what is being promoted are all part of this time .
For me , and many of you , I start studying the cattle that are being promoted when
