MOE Shows
MOE Shows Recognize Limousin and
Lim-Flex Cattle
The National Medal of
Excellence (MOE) program
strives to provide recognition
on the regional and national
level to bulls and females
exhibited in designated MOE
shows. The program also
recognizes the sires and dams
of cattle presented in show
rings across the country.
In addition to providing
recognition to cattle and their
producers, the MOE program
provides governing structure
for MOE Level I and II shows.
The 2018 MOE season runs on
a calendar basis, beginning
in January with the National
Western Stock Show in Denver
and ending December 31, 2018.
State and regional Limousin
associations may petition
NALF for approval of MOE
shows in their state or area.
The sponsoring state or
regional association will be
held responsible for checking
in cattle at the show and
reporting results (including
registration numbers) to NALF.
Beginning in 2009, NALF
began providing EPDs for the
judges to use at the Level I
MOE shows. To receive MOE
points, all cattle must have
the following performance
data submitted and on a file at
NALF by Dec. 1 of each year:
• Birth Weight (all
bulls and heifers)
• Weaning Weight (all
bulls and heifers)
• Yearling Weight (bulls
and heifers over
400 days old)
• Scrotal (bulls over
12 months old)
• Pregnancy test
(females older than
600 days at season’s end)
• Breeding Soundness
Exam and semen test
(bulls older than 400 days)
For complete rules and the
proper petition forms, contact
NALF or visit the NALF website.
In addition, nominations
for the approved judges list
are welcomed. Additionally,
remind the shows in your area
to submit their MOE petition
to be included in the Medal of
Excellence program. Exhibitors
are also strongly encouraged
to follow up with the show’s
superintendents to ensure the
show results are submitted to
the NALF office for inclusion in
the year-end MOE point tally.
