Reflecting on this Past Year as a
Regional Manager

As I reflect on my time as serving as a
regional manager, it has been nothing
less than a first-class experience. I must
extend many thanks for the staff and
board with giving me such a unique
opportunity and for the breeders for
being welcoming to me. I have truly
enjoyed my time with the Limousin
breed and as I traveled on numerous
herd visits across the country that is
the time I will remember the most. I
can’t help but to think that Limousin
breeders have taught me more about
the seedstock business than I could
ever have taught them. I suspect that
there might be some anxiety amongst
breeders about the staff changes over
the course of the last year. However, I
am confident in the leadership in place
within the breed and Mark, with the
help of the board, will continue to lead
the breed in the right direction. My
decision to change was very challenging
as I have truly enjoyed working with the
breeders and fellow staff, but I felt like
it was the best choice for my family.
As a Limousin supporter, I am confident
that the demand for continental
influenced cattle and the popularity
of crossbreeding will increase with the
growth in branded programs utilized at
the feedlot phase of the industry and the
opportunity for natural branded cattle
being marketed continues to increase.
This sets up nicely for Limousin cattle
which are known for their terminal traits
and adding weight and muscle on a set
of feeder cattle. However, in my eyes
to create a larger demand for Limousin
based cattle, the breed needs to keep up
with competitors in terms of technology
used within an operation. The need
