AI Sire/Donor Dam Information
All AI sires and donor dams born in 2015 or later are required to have
a GGP-HD genomic profile on file in addition to parent verification for
sires and sire verification for donor dams. Animals born before 2015
do not require the genomic profile but do require either parent or sire
verification through SNP DNA typing. They must also be tested for any
genetic condition (AM, NH, Proto, etc.) that they are a potential carrier
for. AI Sire Permits are recommended on any new AI sire and can be
added by contacting Brittany Barrick in the NALF office.
It was a great showing of juniors at the
Tennessee Field day as the show drew
competitors from multiple states.
Howard McMains
NALF mourns the passing of longtime member Howard McMains. He
became a lifetime member who joined NALF in 1972. Howard lived
in Nowata County, Okla., all his life. He worked various jobs but his
passion for farming and ranching led him to working at the sale barn
in Coffeyville and Farmers and Ranchers Livestock in Vinita from 1963
to 2013. In 1971, Howard and son, Jerry, brought the first purebred
Limousin cattle to Nowata County forming McMains Limousin Cattle
Company. In 1972 they had the top selling Limousin heifer in the
Tulsa State Fair; which was just the beginning of things to come. They
showed cattle in many states and had several production sales at
the ranch. He was very active in church and made sure his children
had a Godly foundation to live by. Howard enjoyed watching OU
football and Cardinals baseball. He was best known for his generosity
and his quick humor. He will be greatly missed as he leaves behind a
wife of nearly 69 years, four children, 11 grandchildren and 15 great
grandchildren.
